Tips and techniques

I am sure that there are thousands of helpful hints and tips that any paranormal investigator could give you, I just thought that I could give you some advice that I find important whenever I go out on an investigation.

Belief

It sounds obvious but anyone that goes out investigating must have belief in their abilities and in what they are doing. Also from time to time everyone gets sceptical when they are out investigating but you have just got to remind yourself, if you didn't believe in the paranormal, you wouldn't be out there in the first place.

Trust your team

You must have full faith in your team members. If things start to get a bit hairy, you need to know that they are there for you.

Controlled conditions

At any given time during an investigation, you need to be able to account for the whole team. Where were they? What were they doing? This is very important as you dont want evidence to become contaminated with the thought that a team member could be influencing conditions. Unless you are actually filming a team member as a subject, just let everyone know where the cameras are so that they dont interfere with them.

Clothing

Try to eliminate any reflective materials that you might wear as on camera they could appear like something else. In general, wear dark clothing.

Multiple Cameras

Using many cameras is obviously a good idea because you can possibly get more evidence. But be careful of a couple of things. Firstly, if using infrared filming, try not to cross the infrared beams because infrared does cause shadows. Also remember that in dark conditions any camera gives off a light source, just be aware of that whilst filming.

Try not to whisper

It is important, especially whilst EVP recording, that you do not whisper. If you have something to say, say it loud enough so that if any audio device picks it up, you know that its your voice.

Don't be too quick to dismiss

You would be surprised at what happens out their and people can sometimes be too quick to dismiss a paranormal event for something ordinary. Everything is worth checking out.

Negativity

Basicly what you put into a situation is what you get out of it. Try not to be negative as more often than not, this is what you will get back.
